What is Screenwriting
Software?
Screenwriting Software helps you format your
screenplay according to Hollywood standards. If you don't
know screenplay format, we recommend you read our free article How to Format

Will Screenwriting Software help me write a better
screenplay?
If you're struggling with story ideas,
character development, or screenplay structure we recommend that
you first use story development software such as Power
Structure or John Truby's
Blockbuster before you start your screenplay. After you have
outlined your script and developed your story, you'll be
ready to sit down and actually start writing your
screenplay.
What is the best screenwriting software?
We recommend Movie Magic
Screenwriter or Final Draft. Final
Draft and Movie Magic Screenwriter both integrate natively with
almost all the professional production and scheduling software
used in Hollywood. Approximately 90% of North American films and
TV shows use Final Draft or Movie Magic
Screenwriter.
However, these programs are also the most expensive. If you are
just starting out or need to stick to a budget, check out the
rest of our screenwriting software. All screenwriting software
programs sold at ScreenStyle are easy to use, easy to learn, and
will format your script the Hollywood way.
Which is better? Final Draft or Movie Magic
Screenwriter?
Both are excellent. We have sold almost 20,000

Draft and Movie Magic
Screenwriter. You can count on one hand the number of writers
that returned one of these programs for the other.
I already have a word processor. Isn't that good
enough?
Sure. If you want to constantly count the number
of spaces or set up multiple tabs, you can use your current word
processor. Or use a program like Script Werx, Dr. Format,
or
ScreenStyle, which are Microsoft Word templates. Final Draft, Movie Magic
Screenwriter, Scriptware, and
Montage
are standalone programs.

Do I need a PC or a Mac?
Movie Magic Screenwriter, Final Draft, Script
Werx, Dr. Format, Scriptware, and ScreenStyle work on both PCs
and Macs. Montage is a Mac-only program.
